Glasses by Adam is the online version of the well-known (and well-loved) opticians of Adam Simmonds in London's Primrose Hill. For sunglass purchases, see www.adamsimmonds.co.uk.
When the internet came along in force a while ago, us opticians smugly thought that we'd never be affected because ours is such a service-intensive industry that our customers couldn't possibly buy them themselves. Well, we were wrong and there are now many pairs of glasses successfully being bought online.
Selling online allows us to offer the same frames that we sell in the shop at a cheaper price because we're simply processing an order, rather than offering the one-to-one customer service that usually takes around 40 minutes per sale.
It looks like the internet is here to stay and as such, I want to be part of the new wave of internet selling, by making it as easy as possible to do so.
When setting up this website I was torn between branding it separately from my current business versus running the risk of alienating my shop customers who may perceive that they're paying too much in the shop. I thought long and hard about this dilemma and decided that the best option was to explain why we can offer cheaper prices online. I hope you all understand.
